fat elvis phase, coming right up!
home.
no shows. no plane flights. no suitcases.
this is a new concept for me.
i have to keep reminding myself that i’m not leaving.
it feels very indulgent.
i think i’m gonna start wearing satin pajamas all day.
and smoking a pipe.
then i’m gonna let my beard grow….
and pay people to come to my house to shave me.
oh the glory!
i’m drunk on the sweet nectar of freedom’s kiss!
my only focus now is the new songs. and the new record.
mark flies up on monday for the week to write.
then, the plan is a first round of recording in december…
but plans change. so we’ll see.
plus, it isn’t super easy scheduling shit between spa treatments.
these shoulders ain’t gonna massage themselves, godammit!

Glad to see a journal…where your brilliance isn’t limited to 140 characters!
Pace yourself…but remember…the world is to end in 2012. Or not.

I can’t wait for new songs, I’ll continue listening to the old ones intermixed with a little bit of the National until then…
I really hope the next album has a duet. Loud is one of my favourite songs, and duets in general.
Keep on humoring us with blog posts in between spas.

Good - you need and deserve a break!
Though I am a bit sad that I won’t see you live again for awhile
Your blog posts crack me up, too. I don’t know what happens inside that head, but I like it.

No Live Matt for a while makes me kinda sad.
But New Music Matt gives me butterflies.
Thanks for indulging us with an update. Go be normal for a while.
And totally grow a beard. They’re SO underrated.

looking forward to new songs, but if you get an urge to try some out at a local SF hangout…..just sayin’…would be really cool. Saw you at the VaBch festival last spring and you earned a fan for life. Now, what we all want to know, is that really you on twitter??

Oh, I totally agree with Pink Bean. Grow a beard. Go be a mountain man. Then you can reuse your Halloween costume.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
Yes, new music! And more shows! Saw you open for OAR at Merriweather, but would love to see you live again!

Take a little time … to enjoy the view. And get inspired. How long will it take for that beard to itch and/or stink? It can be just as harsh as nose hair.

New songs… That’s wonderful. Can’t wait - everything you write is so brilliant. Good luck on the writing, and enjoy your time while you’re home.
By the way, I think you should grow a beard too. But not a very long one.

Matt! I cannot wait for your new tour! Have a well deserved down time!

Can’t wait for the new CD. I am a recent convert who worships daily in the house of Nathanson and I can not get enough. Thank you for the beautiful thoughtful lyrics that offer surprises no matter how many times I listen to the same songs in a row.

i’ve been hearing a lot of talk about no shave november. at first i thought it was a myth of some sort but oh no the spirit of the month is very much alive and thriving in tulsa and i really hope it doesn’t apply to women. i have a competitive nature but that is one race i will gladly wave my white flag. i would however, like to tip my hat to anyone who can accomplish this task for a full month.

ok, so I’m from Newfoundland, Canada and my boyfriend Brandon lives in Chicago. I introduced Brandon to Come on Get Higher and it became our personal theme song of sorts. Yes, I’m in my thirties and i’ve become a giddy schoolgirl again by pairing songs with a relationship…. it’s fantastic! haha. I’m so eager to hear about your new tour dates because I want to plan a trip around it! If I have to go to the US to be with the one I love, I can’t image it being more wonderful than including one of your shows in our adventure.
