A Note From Matt
Fall is in full swing, and I’m sure this finds you enjoying
the change of season, as well as pulling together your
Hannah Montana costumes for Halloween…
I am finally finishing up 2 1/2 years of promotion and touring behind ‘Some Mad Hope’.
Spent the summer crisscrossing the US with my friends O.A.R., Indigo Girls and Sugarland…
As well as headlining my biggest shows yet in Canada.
Lots of great shows, great people…and, oh yeah…
I got to play a benefit for, and be blessed by, The Dalai Lama in Memphis last week!!!

It was a pretty mind blowing way to spend a Wednesday.
Very surreal!
I will post more photos and a write more about it on the website/myspace/facebook soon…
I am a very fortunate human..
And speaking of fortunate, I’ll be heading “down under” for most of this month
to promote “Some Mad Hope” in Australia…I have never been and am super psyched!!
The dates are below…
If you happen to be around Sydney, Perth or Melbourne, come on out.
If not, spread the word to all your Aussie peeps! We are gonna get crazy in the land
of reverse flushing toilets!
Be well…
Talk to you all at years end!
Matt

Hey Matt,
Have fun in Australia!!! Just a heads up, the toilets don’t actually flush in reverse. Seriously. My friend Justin was going to take a video of it happening when we first got there and was sorely disappointed.

That is an awesome honor, Matt. Question, what the heck was the Dalai Lama doing in Memphis? Taking a tour of Graceland? I don’t know much about the Dalai or his Lama expect a great quote from Caddyshack. A classic movie with big name actors and amazing characters, I hope you have seen it.
Carl Spackler (Bill Murry):So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I’m a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald… striking. So, I’m on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one — big hitter, the Lama — long, into a ten-thousand foot crevice, right at the base of this glacier. And do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga…gunga — gunga galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he’s gonna stiff me. And I say, “Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.” And he says, “Oh, uh, there won’t be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness.” So I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.
Did the Lama grant you this divine blessing as well? Gunga Galunga Matt!

Your show w-Sugarland in Milwaukee (9/18) was AMAZING - thank you for coming out to meet your fans, take pics with us and sign my t-shirt! The show was EXACTLY what I needed to boost my creativity for school. Safe travels as you continue touring.

I miss Memphis, and your article reminded me of some of the reasons why I miss it. I’m planning a trip there in the spring of next year. I am looking forward to it.
